City Breaks in Europe - Part 1
City breaks have been more popular now than before, specially as the credit crunch takes a chunk out of consumer pockets. With many people choosing to prefer short well-planned breaks than the usual long summer holidays, here are few top city breaks in Europe this year. Remember, I am talking about only five of them and that’s also in short to just give you an idea, but in my opinion there are many more to talk about and that in detail.
Venice

Venice has been known as the “City of Water”, “City of Bridges”, “La Dominante”, “Serenissima”, “Queen of the Adriatic”, and “The City of Light”. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave (north) Rivers.
When you are visiting Venice, don’t forget to see the stunning Rialto Bridge, Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Square. You must take a ride on a waterbus which is also called vaporetti. When it takes you through small canals and through under Rialto Bridhe, that view would be fun to experience.
Prague
Prague has become one of Europe’s (and the world’s) most popular tourist destinations. It is the sixth most-visited European city after London, Paris, Rome, Madrid and Berlin. Most of its historic architecture to stay true to form even after world war II as it was least damanged major Europeon City. It contains one of the world’s most pristine and varied collections of architecture
The places to visit are The Charles Bridge! Take a day trip to the spa town of Karlovy Vary if you can.
Amsterdam

It’s a complete party town and you can do all the things you’ve heard or never heard yet. You’ll find Amsterdam as a wonderful canals crossed city lined with gabled houses and moored up huge houseboats. Something for everyone - Intense nightlife of every type imaginable and relaxed daytime. Places to check out are Rembrandt’s house and the Van Gogh museum.
Barcelona

Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and the capital of Catalonia, one of the 17 regions that form Spain. The city has a wealth of unique historic architecture and has emerged as one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe during the 1990s. Barcelona has amazing Gaudi and gothic architecture. Barcelona has decent enough beaches.
Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. Strikingly pretty, it is arguably one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world. The city is made up of 14 islands connected by some 50 bridges on Lake Malaren, which flows into the Baltic Sea and passes an archipelago with some 24,000 islands and islets).
The city’s a very lively, cosmopolitan place with both modern Scandinavian architecture including lots of brass and steel, along with fairy tale towers, a captivating Old Town (Gamla Stan) and lots of green space. Over 30% of the city area is made up of waterways and another 30% is made up of parks and green spaces, giving Stockholm perhaps the freshest air and widest lungs of any European capital. Water so pure and clean that you’ll see people salmon fishing in the middle of the city.
Be sure to walk the cobbled-stoned streets of Gamla Stan (old town), maybe buy an axe at the Viking shop & for sure take one of many boat trips to the local islands of the 14,000+ island archipelago.
